New striker on the way?

The ineffective performance of Grzegorz Rasiak in the cup defeat at Leicester has led to strong rumours that Martin Jol will, after all bring a new striker in during the transfer window.

Spurs have been strongly tipped to complete a deal for the Udinese striker Vincenzo Iaquinta in the next few days as they seek cover for Egyptian striker Mido who will miss at least three games whilst on African Nations duty.

It is beleived that Jol spurned the opportunity to start with Mido against Leicester as he wanted to give Raziak a chance to stake his claim – and the Polish striker clearly failed to pass the test.

Having been linked with amongst others Feyenoord's Dirk Kuyt and Milan's Christian Vieri over the past week, speculation has mounted that Spurs have now made Iaquinta their number one target for the January window.
