| Tottenham är inte det framgångsrikaste fotbollslaget i England, men det är en klubb med stor tradition och stolthet. Vid många tillfällen har Spurs varit revolutionerande och fungerat som pionjärer och stilbildare för övriga klubbar i England. Konkreta exempel på detta är Arthur Rowes upplaga av ”push and run” och Bill Nicholsons version av effektiv gladfotboll. Tottenham blev första brittiska klubb att vinna en europeisk cupturnering för klubblag 1963. Ur ekonomisk synvinkel var Spurs första fotbollsklubb att börsnoteras. Spurs var också första klubb att inhandla internationella storstjärnor till England när Keith Burkinshaw värvade Ossie Ardiles och Ricky Villa från Argentina 1978. Tottenham är idag ett etablerat lag i Premier League. Dock finns det förhoppningar om att åter en dag få uppleva fornstora glansdagar. För att bäst kunna beskriva vad Tottenham handlar om vill jag citera legendariske lagkaptenen, strategen och forne mittfältaren Danny Blanchflower: “The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It’s nothing of the kind. The game is about glory. It’s about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.” Nedan följer fler träffsäkra citat. “White Hart Lane was always a place where I felt I belonged."
